A corporation is a legal entity that is a creation of the state and a social technology designed to limit the personal risk of the owners. While the corporation can develop a distinct "personality" it does not represent a holistic socio-cultural system. Instead it is subject to the laws and rules of the government and society that created it. The use of the term "personality" is appropriate here because the corporation is a legal fictional person

A tribe, as I understand the term, is a self defining and self governing sovereign social institution.Barry R. Basically, the mechanism is an innovative corporate ethos which is aware of the changing nature of its environment and institutionalizes an ideal of self destruction and reinvention of self such as IBM has over the past 80 or so years. Not every corporation is in an industry that enables it to do this.

However, through creative marketing, it can redefine itself and product in the eyes of the public and customer. A classic case would be Arm & Hammer.

Thus, through agile corporate leadership and flexible organization as a core value, a corporate culture can not only adapt to change but actually be an agent for change.
